Change District Online Test Settings
Change District Online Test Settings
A variety of options are currently available for District Administrators to change settings for all the online tests administered in the district. These settings can be accessed via the Assign Online Test window. If you wish to change the default settings, we encourage you to contact LinkIt! to discuss the the changes beforehand. In an upcoming release, we will provide school level administrators and teachers with the ability to customize these settings as well.
A list of all the available settings are given below:
- Verify Student: an additional security option that enables administrators to determine whether students must verify their identity when taking the test online. By default, the students’ district-assigned code is used for this purpose, but other passwords or codes may be substituted through special arrangement with LinkIt!. Disabled by default.
- Shuffle Questions: When enabled, test items will be presented to students in a randomized order. This is generally used to discourage cheating in a lab setting. Items with reference can also be shuffled, but these items are always presented as a group (in random order) and travel with their associated references. For reporting purposes, the test is analyzed based on the default order of the items regardless of the order in which the students actually saw the items. Disabled by default.
- Auto Advance: Test automatically advances to the next question as soon as student clicks an answer. However, students can always use the arrows at the bottom of the question display area to go back and change their response. Enabled by default.
- Auto End Test: This feature automatically prompts students to submit their test when all questions are answered. Enabled by default.
- Must Answer All Questions: When set to "on", this setting requires students to answer all questions before the test can be submitted. It is designed to prevent students from prematurely submitting incomplete test results. Enabled by default.
- Can Review Test: If set to “on,” this setting allows students to immediately review whether their answers for items were correct or incorrect. Responses cannot be changed during the review process. It should be noted that this feature is generally more appropriate for formative-type assessments where there is a need for immediate student feedback and minimal concern regarding issues related to test security. Currently, this feature does not present the student’s score on the assessment. Disabled by default.
- Pause Test: This feature allows students to pause a test and save their place. This is typically applied in situations where there may not be enough time to finish the test in a single class period or in cases of unanticipated interruptions--a fire drill for example. To log back in to a paused test, students will use the same test code and will be able to resume the test where they left off. Clicking the pause icon will present the window below. To save the test and finish later, students should click the green “Yes” button. To return to the test, they can click “No”. Enabled by default.
- Display Answer Labels: In some cases, it may be advantageous to use multiple-choice items without answer choice labels, particularly for primary students. When set to "off", the multiple choice items are displayed in boxes without corresponding letters or number labels as shown below. Disabled by default.
- Answer Label Format: This setting determines the format of the answer choice labels for multiple choice items and may be set to either (A,B,C,D…) or (1,2,3,4…). Set to letters by default.
